Culture. How comfortable are we in another culture? For so many missionaries, they have become comfortable in two, three, or even more cultures. They can adjust to the individualism of the West and the communal qualities of many of the Asian cultures.
But how do missionaries work with U.S. Catholics who have not had those mission experiences? How do they help bishops, pastors, priests and deacons appreciate the importance of global solidarity when they find themselves trying to adjust to the changing cultures here in America – between north and south, rich and poor, black and white, conservative and liberal.
USCMA is beginning to explore these issues. On October 7th, Sr. Mary McGlone, CSJ, gave a webinar on the Development Model of Intercultural Sensitivity. Her webinar was recorded. The link to the recording is below as well as her slides which can be downloaded. Other resources about interculturality will be posted on this resource page as they become available.
