  • The good news is that, at this moment is time, the staples of the human diet are stable. The necessities of human life exist.

Covid-19 impacted the local food system and it, with other factors, are creating food insecurity in some countries.

We learned the steps toward famine – and that famine is the worse case scenario. It means the game is over. We work to avoid an acute food crisis. We work so we do not move into the yellow zone – acute food and livelihood crisis.

    What is our judgement?

    • We remembered that Jesus fed the multitude. Give them something to eat yourselves.
    • We remembered that Jesus feeds us our daily bread.
    • We remember that it is Jesus himself that we see in the hungry faces of our sisters and brothers.
    • We remember that Jesus himself calls us to feed his lambs and his sheep.

What are we called to do in this moment?

    • Call to Action – Tell Congress to include $12 Billion for a global Covid-19 Response in the supplemental funding bill currently before Congress.

o   Corporate Action: Tell leadership that you endorse the Interaction Letter.

o   Personal Action: Write your Representative and Senator.

    • Share what we have learned with others.

o   We recorded the presentations. Here is the link.

o   Here are the slides for the Bread for the World presentation.

o   Here are the slides for the Catholic Relief Service presentation.

    • Stay informed and stay involved.
