Understanding our reconciliation with God as a wedding feast, with the wine of Christ reserved for us until now, helps us appreciate the depth of meaning of the first sign of Jesus’ mission among us.
The most economically-challenged in any society preserve their God-given capacity for joy as a vital resource that we can all learn from and develop, as we wake up to the freedom and happiness of living in harmony with God’s plans that the Messiah has made possible.
Though mountains may fall, today’s readings remind us that God’s love will always stand, and time will bring us the culmination of His Reign on earth. Keep walking the path of Christ, and stay vigilant.
Far from considering his followers as above contemporary movements, Jesus points out our potential allies and partners in society, people of good will who share with us a passion for the poor and vulnerable, recognize our faith community’s contributions, and may even give us a glass of water, with time to chat, along our common way.
Following Christ by putting our faith into a lifelong practice of effective love allows us to grow in the new life of the Reign of God, and oppose the inhumanity of violent policies and structures of our society.
