Washington, DC, February 28, 2014: The United States Catholic Mission Association (USCMA) is excited to announce the speakers for this year?s Mission Conference. USCMA?s Mission Conference,
Gospel Justice: A Living Challenge for the Church in Mission, will help participants envisage Gospel Justice as being at the heart of mission today. Rev. John R. Nuelle, MS, USCMA Executive Director, said that Gospel Justice ?is a vision founded in Jesus? own mission and clearly proposed by our Holy Father, Pope Francis? as a central element of mission. The Mission Conference is an annual gathering of 150 to 200 missioners and mission minded individuals. This year?s theme encourages participants to learn more about Gospel Justice through the lenses of Sacred Scripture, Catholic Social Teaching, and their own hearts. The keynote presenters this year are Rev. Donald Senior, CP, President Emeritus and Professor at Catholic Theological Union; Ms. Marie Dennis, co-President of Pax Christi International; and Rev. James Greenfield, OSFS, President of the Conference of Major Superiors of Men.
Fr. Nuelle spoke of how together these keynote speakers will address the fact that ?much of our world understands, speaks, advocates for, and acts on justice issues so differently from the Gospel perspective. The call of the conference will be to discover how we, as witnesses of Christ?s love alive in 2014, can live the Gospel challenge more effectively.? Along with the keynote addresses, participants will be able to attend several workshops and dialogue sessions lead by Ms. Amy Woolam-Echeverria, Director of the Columban Fathers International Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation Office; Rev. Arturo Aguilar, SSC, Vicar General of the Missionary Society of St. Columban; Rev. Roger Schroeder, SVD, Professor at Catholic Theological Union; Dr. Amy Knorr, Professor at Eastern Mennonite University; Ms. Margaret Gruenke, Maryknoll Lay Missioner; Sr. Ana Maria Pineda, RSM, Associate Professor at Santa Clara University; and a panel of youth from local universities engaged in justice issues. USCMA?s Mission Conference,
Gospel Justice: A Living Challenge for the Church in Mission, will take place October 24 -26, 2014 in Alexandria, Virginia.
