Integration
A Webinar for “Returning” Missionaries
Pastors, church leaders, and volunteers know that integration of the mission experiences– visits, immersion trips, mission trips, medical missions, or service trips – is the weakest component of the experience. Preparing for a trip generates a lot of excitement, the trip itself will have its ups and downs, but all too frequently, when people return home, they are anxious to get back to “normal.” Even very powerful experiences may be hard for missionaries to talk about.
Integration is a flexible, seven-part module that accompanies a group through their efforts to remember, honor, and learn from a mission experience. This webinar will introduce to pastors, church leaders, and mission leaders the module with its videos, prayers, reflection exercises, small group sharing sessions, and discernment process.
The panel: Mike Haasl led mission partnership efforts through the Center for Mission at the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis for 15 years, including the inter-diocesan partnership with the Diocese of Kitui, Kenya. He is a founding member of the Third Wave of Mission Institute. Kelli Nelson is the Executive Director of From Mission to Mission. She served domestically and internationally and believes in the power of story and community. She holds an MA in Organizational Management and BA in Literature with minor studies in Peace and Conflict Resolution, Ethics and Social Justice. Don McCrabb is the Executive Director of the United States Catholic Mission Association, a pastoral theologian, and a former missionary to higher education.
Integration is the work of the Third Wave of Mission, a collaborative effort of mission leaders and groups to provide resources to prepare, support, and accompany new missionaries through the missionary process. The Third Wave of Mission is made possible by the generous support of the Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers, USCMA, and From Mission to Mission.
