      Haitian Mission
The Story of Saint Margaret Mary

St. Margaret Mary Parish, in Winter Park, FL, has sponsored mission in Haiti for years. Ken Firling, one of the founding members of the mission, and members of the Haitian Mission Team, shared their incredible story of their Haitian Mission in a webinar on January 14, 2021. They describe how it was founded, its four foundational principles, the five components of the mission, the benefits of the mission to both the people in Haiti and the people of St. Margaret Mary, how the parish school is involved, the challenges facing the mission, the next steps for its growth, and how the people of Haiti transformed the lives of missionaries.

ENCOUNTER, USCMA’s newsletter, featured St. Margaret Mary Parish in its December 2020 edition. You can read about their mission HERE. Their story is so rich, and well thought out, it was clear a webinar was needed to understand the “nuts and bolts” of their Haitian Mission.

Ken Firling is a member of Saint Margaret Mary Parish, Winter Park, Florida. During his years in Alexandria, VA, as a teacher, he chaired the Saint Charles Borromeo Haiti committee. Ken is a founding board member of the Parish Twinning Program of the Americas.

The slides for the webinar are available here.

The link to St. Margaret Mary’s Haitian Mission is here.

USCMA is forming a task force for Haitian Missions. Complete this contact form to keep informed about future programming and be sure to mention the Haitian Mission Task Force in the comment box.

Below is the complete webinar for viewing.
