Dear Ultra Rich People,
Excuse this impersonal post. We cannot afford wealth research software or services.
First, congratulations. Making and caring for huge sums of money takes time and effort.
According to Wealth-X, in 2018 there were 81,340 UHNW (ultra-high net worth) individuals in the USA. These are people like yourself that have a net worth of $30 million or more.
Some of you are Catholic. Some Christian. I am sure that you are very generous with your wealth supporting schools, hospitals, the arts, and the Church. Thank you for your generosity.
Could you support missionaries by investing some of your philanthropy with USCMA? We are a national organization of 100 Catholic mission-sponsoring organizations – from the Maryknoll Priests and Brothers in New York to the School Sisters of St. Francis in Milwaukee – and close to 1,000 Catholic missionaries.
Our four goals for 2020 are: to engage young adults in mission, form parishes for mission, form collaborative efforts among mission organizations, and explore what mission looks like when people are on the move. Mission is changing rapidly. How do you do mission when the people are coming to you through immigration, migration, and asylum?
Missionaries focus on the people they accompany. They forget their own needs. Can you send a few bucks our way? It will make a world of difference to those in mission and form new generations of missionaries – lay, religious, and ordained.
Finally, if you are uncertain or just suspicious, we understand. Missionaries are a quiet, behind-the-scenes kind of folks building bridges of solidarity among people of different cultures and countries every day. We see you as a beloved child of God. You, too, are called to mission. May we accompany you in your own discernment on how you could be personally involved in mission?
Together in Mission,
Dr. Donald R. McCrabb
USCMA Executive Director
