USCMA is a community
of faith leaders engaged in
networking, formation, and advocacy
for God’s mission.
Theme: The USCMA Board believes that mission leaders need to see, claim, and grasp a Grace Filled Future. The best way to do that is to gather in a convention to revisit the animating principles of Pope Francis' 2013 Apostolic Exhortation, Joy of the Gospel. Keynote: Fr. Jim Kroeger, MM, an internationally known missiologist, just returned from serving in the Philippines for 50+ years. He taught Joy of the Gospel multiple times in graduate classes and just completed a book on Pope Francis. Fr. Jim led our review of Joy of the Gospel and explore the implications for networking, formation, and advocacy.
Panels: Three panels examined the significance of Joy of the Gospel on the three pillars of USCMA’s mission – networking, formation, and advocacy. The panelists were USCMA members.
Convention: The purpose of the keynote and panels was to get mission leaders talking. Using a synodal approach, this gathering was very interactive. Members had the opportunity to see their experiences in a new light, share reflections, explore ideas together, build relationships, and harmonize their voices for a more missionary Church. This convention included our in-person membership meeting in over eight years.
