Diocesan Mission Activity

Mission activities vary according to the diocese.  Currently over 120 diocesan priests serve in global or cross-cultural mission activity.  Some of these priests work in projects developed by their own diocese while others work as associate priests with mission groups or directly with a missionary-receiving project.

A number of dioceses have Mission Educators who are available to schools and parishes to instruct about mission work and support mission activities in the dioceses.

Many dioceses now support short-term mission experiences for their faithful.  These may be week-long trips for youth or volunteer opportunities for a longer period of time.

Partnering/twinning relationships are increasing between dioceses or between a diocese here and mission parishes in the United States or in another country.  These relationships provide opportunities for short-term mission experiences for the people in both parts of the relationship.

Some dioceses are inviting religious and clergy from other countries to serve the U.S. Church.
